Aubrey Hawkes has been operating as a professional artist since 2003. Her primary work can be divided into two separate formats: painting and sculpture. Both presentations focus on the use of color, texture and the juxtaposition of opacity and transparency to evoke familiar physical surfaces. While her sculptures are constructed to be actual representational objects, her paintings are non-objective in subject matter. She is especially interested in eliciting a sense of recognized functionality and history for each piece. To date, Aubrey’s work has been presented at several group shows and has been purchased exclusively by private collectors in the United States.
